Doughnut

ES was craving for doughnut during last weekend. So, I decided to made her some using our new kitchen aid Pro 600 stand mixer.

She loves it so much as she had eaten three doughnuts on Sunday night.
On the following day, i put the remaining doughnut with strawberry yoghurt on top...

Ingredients
8 g active dry yeast
35 ml warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
200 ml lukewarm milk
55 g white sugar
3 g salt
1 eggs
40 g shortening
345 g all-purpose flour
525 ml vegetable oil for frying

40 g butter
140 g confectioners' sugar
4 ml vanilla
35 ml hot water or as needed

1.Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water, and let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.

2.In a large bowl, mix together the yeast mixture, milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening, and flour. Mix for a few minutes at low speed, or stirring with a wooden spoon. Beat in remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. Knead for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough into a greased bowl, and cover. Set in a warm place to rise until double. Dough is ready if you touch it, and the indention remains.

3.Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, and gently roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a floured doughnut cutter. Let doughnuts sit out to rise again until double. Cover loosely with a cloth.

4.Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Remove from heat, and stir in hot water one tablespoon at a time until the icing is somewhat thin, but not watery. Set aside.

5.Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large heavy skillet to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Slide doughnuts into the hot oil using a wide spatula. Turn doughnuts over as they rise to the surface. Fry doughnuts on each side until golden brown. Remove from hot oil, to drain on a wire rack. Dip doughnuts into the glaze while still hot, and set onto wire racks to drain off excess. Keep a cookie sheet or tray under racks for easier clean up.

The convenience during shopping time

Guess what?

They have this trolley available in Target, or maybe it is available everywhere here. Three of my kids can sit together in just one shopping trolley.... Amazing!

I think shopping malls in Malaysia should consider this as it is more convenient for those family with few kids, it will make life more easier while shopping, indeed they will make more money as families can stay longer time in shopping....

Ah gong's birthday

We celebrated Ah gong's birthday earlier this year on 21 May 2011, before the actual day of his birthday ( last Thursday according to lunar calendar ) - As we will be in OR by then.

The three cousins were busy looking at photos in daddy's phone...

IPad 2

Thanks to my ex-colleagues! That they had given me a special gift during my farewell dinner...

At first, they thought of buying me jewelleries, or watch.... But after that, They found that I am not a person that very into jewelleries and I had a watch from daddy which is still quite new.

Since I will not be having a laptop after resignation, they decided to give me an Ang Au to purchase iPad 2, as it just launched in Malaysia in May.

Everybody in the family loves it very much! Thanks to all of you!!

Why?
(1) stay connect with our friends and family members through FaceTime, talk box, Skype... We even can see each other through video call, we feel that we are just so near to each other!

(2) reading newspaper - MIL only reads Chinese newspaper. iPad is so easy to use, as she is using it to read Chinese newspaper whenever she is free. She even now how to on and search for the updated news.

(3) the screen is bigger! Daddy loves to access Internet through iPad, and now he feels that the screen for iPhone is a bit smaller...haha...

(4) varieties of games, story books.... Which is suitable for esmsls... But, we seldom let them use it for this purpose.

(5) access my email...

However, there are things that iPad 2 can't do...
It needs special way to upload photos into blog.

ES's first visit to the dentist

She was busy reading the brochure given by pre-school while waiting for the dentist to come.

ES was complaining about having toothache on Tuesday. Daddy brought her to the dentist.

They take x-ray on the site that she is complaining having toothache. She was not only having one bad tooth, but a few which started to show symptom of having problem. The dentist asked if she drinks a lot of fruit juice ( packed fruit juice )' as apple, orange and grapes juice had the highest acidity which will be harmful to our teeth. Or sometimes, when children tends to eat or drink slowly, and chew for a long time during their meal, will not be good for the teeth also.

We concluded it should be due to her eating habit - she eats really slow.... She does not take much sweet stuff like sweets or chocolate.

The consultation of the visit comes to about rm300.... A bit pricy ya....

She was refer to a dentist who is specialized on children on Thursday. Dr had suggested to take out the nerve of the teeth ( two ) or take out the whole tooth. She did not complained about having toothache till dinner time just now. We decided to cook her porridge as she feels more painful when taking rice.
