Something wrong with the maths costing. According to this article at www.themalaysianinsider.com,
It cost China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) rm2.3billion to build 17km on the sea.
It cost UEM rm1billion to build 7km land portion.
If you do the maths, km per billion it will cost UEM almost rm2.5 billion to build equivalent ~17km on the land portion. I am no civil engineer, but isn't building the bridge out in the high sea much more harder? However SURPRISINGLY THE COST IS JUST THE SAME!!! Either CHEC is underestimating its cost (which we doubt) or someone in UEM is overestimating the cost for some reason :(
