Each June, corporations and organizations participate in the Grand Floral Parade in Portland as their way of sending a special message to the world. It may be because of the exposure to millions of visitors. Perhaps it's about increasing their name recognition. But, most of all, it's about community pride.
We took a train to Portland Downtown this morning, and arrived there at about 10 plus. The parade was just about to start. It was cooling and we choose a feng shui place to settle down, "picnic" while waiting for the parade to start.
a huge dog... coming to join the crowd also...
The 2011 Grand Floral Parade Floats includes the following floats from Spirit Mountain Casino, Battle Ground Rose Float, Reser's Fine Food, Alaska Airlines, Portland Art Museum presented by Bank of America, Oregon National Guard, Salvation Army, Royal Rosarian Foundation, Astoria Regatta, Portland General Electric, The Oregonian, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, Kaohsiung Sister City Association, Vietnamese Community of Oregon, Fred Meyer, Portland Rose Festival Foundation and many more...
The parade ended at about 1pm and we are glad that three of them enjoyed very much, and didn't make much noise. LSMS were so tired and they slept in the train when we are on the way back home.

Is this the same as the Rose Parade? Good thing it was in cool Portland. If they held the parade here in Malaysia, I would have melted like an ice cream! :P
