Happy Birthday to MSLS!

We celebrated MSLS's birthday last Saturday. We celebrated their birthday earlier as gong gong was in town to attend a conference. Prepared some simple food - fried noodle, fried bihun, roast chicken and garlic bread.

LS requested a hello kitty birthday cake, while MS requested a flower cake. Therefore, I baked a strawberry sponge cake with flower design using swiss meringue frosting, and make two fondant hello kitty.

They are excited to have a cake as per requested. MSLS keep on asking me if they can eat it before the party started.

We are three years old!

 Try to blow the candle...

Popo and Ah yi were not able to join us, so we made a video call while singing birthday song.

The girls can't wait to open their presents.

LS wanted to colour her book, a present by gong gong, popo and ah yi.

They received a few presents which they can used and played with - happily using the water bottles by gugu, gu zhang and biao ge; busy colouring the colour book and using the new colour pencils by gong gong, popo and ah yi; wearing the new watch by ah gong and ah ma, and of course busy writing and drawing on the new white board bought by daddy as their present.

Happy Birthday, Mummy!

We had a simple birthday celebration for mummy last friday. Gugu's family, gong gong & popo were here with us. Popo cooked some dishes for dinner - including gu lou yok and wu tao kao yuk, our favourite dishes.

Popo and mummy baked a mango sponge cake, while ESMSLS helped to decorate the cake with jelly beans ( to form the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY ), and we plucked some mint leaves from our backyard to put on top of the cake too.

Mummy, how many candles should we put on?

Glad that popo and gong gong were here to celebrate mummy's birthday. Ah Ma & Ah gong were away for holiday.

Gu Zhang helped us to take a nice family photo.

One of the reasons we love summer!

One of the reasons we love summer is there are a lot of fruits available during this season. Peach & Nectarine are the girls' favourite.

Blackberries

Raspberries

Cherries

Blueberries

Strawberries

Prunes.

Grapes

And we found this champagne grapes from the grocery strore. It is the smallest of all seedless grapes. The average size of each bunch is only the length and width of a hand.

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls is one of the must visit place in Oregon. On the 12th August 2012, we brought gong gong, popo and yan auntie there. It is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, located along the Historic Columbia River Highway. Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. Unlike many of the West's famous falls, Multnomah Falls does not dry up in the late summer. Rainwater, an underground spring and snow melt feed the falls through all four seasons and ensure a spectacular sight any day of the year.

Daddy also drove to the top of the mountain to have a nicer and clearer view on Columbia River Gorge.
We went to Wong King's for dinner. It is one of the restaurants that we love to go ( gong gong's favourite restaurant too ). The Dim Sum, Chinese food and roast pork here are really good.

Sightseeing at Newport & Lincoln City

We drove to New Port on a sunny Saturday morning ( 11th Aug 2012 ). New Port is about 109 miles away from where we stay. It took us almost 2 1/2 hours to reach there. New Port is a city in Lincoln County. We passed by Newport waterfront.

Wanted to try some fresh crabs and seafood in Newport.

Here we are....

Live crab with homemade cocktail sauce ( it is a combination of wasabi and chilli sauce, really yummy! )

Fried squid.

 Fried Oyster

After lunch, we went to Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.

MS climbing uphill with popo. The wind was really strong.

The kitchen
The lighthouse was built in 1871. The Yaquina Bay structure is the only existing lighthouse in the state in which the living quarters are housed in the same vuilding as the light.

The pantry

An old piano in the parlor.

In front of the light house.

LS holding tightly to popo as the windy, and it was cooling too.

There was a sandcastle competition at Lincoln County on that weekend. It was quite cold and we just stayed for awhile.

We reached Hillsboro during dinner time and we had our dinner at the Mongolian Grill.
