Poor Ee Shuen's thumb is swollen

Last night at about 9pm, Baby Ee Shuen pointed to the bed room, indicating she wanted to go to sleep, such a good girl, so daddy prepared her milk, mummy changed her into pyjamas and diapers.

after she finished her milk, we put her into her baby cot, but somehow after a while she keep getting up. we thought she wanted a little hug before sleeping, so we pick her up and try hugging her to sleep, however she just couldn't fall asleep. Daddy noticed one thing very strange, she wasn't sucking her thumb but her mouth was alway moving, like she is muching or sucking something. (on a side note, we have never given her pacifier, it has always been the thumb). Observing her a little more, we noticed whenever she puts her left thumb into her mouth, she will quickly take it out. Looks like she has sucked her thumb till its all red and a little swollen, it is now painful. Poor Ee Shuen........

We tried to give her a pacifier, but apparently this baby doesn't know how to suck the pacifier anymore. She just play with it.

In the end ah mah and ah kong took her into their room, let her roll around until about 11pm++, when she was too tired and she just fall asleep without sucking her thumb. One other thing, she will throw her lion pillow away, her thumb sucking pillow :).

climb up the staircase

What Ee Shuen did last Thursday in Gong gong & Popo's house?
She climbed up the staircase for 6-7 times in a day.

She reached 1st floor on her own. When she's climbing up, somebody have to follow her at the back.
That night, she slept through the whole night till the next morning 7am. I think she's too tired climbing up the staricase during daytime!

Sayang, sayang...

Aunty Machere presented this soft toy to Ee Shuen last week. We only unwrapped the present during christmas eve.
Just now, Mummy asked her to "sayang" the little dog. She picked up the dog and sayang the dog. She's a big girl now!

Merry Christmas..... Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus!!

Merry Christmas.... and God bless From us....

After dinner we have a little dance party......

The children xchanging and opening their christmas gifts after the long dinner, mini carolling with Michael Wong playing the guitar and dancing. Many many gifts from family and relatives :). Christine got 2 blanket, 2 dress and a doll this year.

AZ gathering & Yiyi 's birthday

Last Thursday, we went back Ipoh as there's long holiday. ( 20th Dec, Thursday was Hari Raya Haji & 25th is Christmas ). Thursday night, we went to aunty Machere's house for AZ ( ex Ipoh & current Ipoh staff ) gathering, with some of Machere's friends also. As usual, " pertanian" session all the night for all the guys.

As "Tang yuan" festival was on 22nd Dec ( Saturday ), Popo prepared the praying session one day earlier so that we can eat the " tang yuan" before back to Penang.

This time, Mummy bought a different cake for Su Wei aunty. Mummy bought it from Left Shore Cafe. It's a strawberry cheese with sponge cake. Very tasty, not too sweet.

While waiting for cake cutting, Yiyi and Popo show Ee Shuen how to make a triangle their fingers. Ee Shuen is trying to figure out how to do it!

The next moment, she showed the same thing like what Yiyi & Popo did!

Finally, we took our usual family photo! Happy Birthday, Yiyi! May all your birthday wishes come through!

Being a Catholic.......

if you are a reader and subscriber of malaysiakini, you will come across this article. in summary,

The word ‘Allah’ can only be used in the context of Islam and not any other religion, said Deputy Internal Security Minister Johari Baharum.

Asked why a new condition will be imposed on Catholic weekly newspaper Herald when its annual publishing permit is next renewed, the deputy minister said this is to prevent confusion.

“Only Muslims can use ‘Allah’. It’s a Muslim word, you see. It’s from (the Arabic (language). We cannot let other religions use it because it will confuse people,” he said when contacted today.

I wonder if Mr Johari is going to get wikepedia and britannica re-written. I suggest Mr. Johari to be a more glocal Malaysian that is bringing his case to the world, rather than just talking about it in Malaysia.

You can also read the meaning of it at newadvent site.

At 11 months

Ee Shuen has start to recognise things in the book, like butterfly, bird, pig, apple fish, bicycle.

When we laughed, Ee Shuen also follow, " Ha ha! "

She'll crawl to the door, and waved to Mummy, sometimes like saying " Bye!"

She loves to go to the playground.

She will stand without any support sometimes.

adding on (by daddy on 25th of December)

She no longer poo poo into her diapers. She will only do her big one in the red 'tam pui' (hokkien), while reading her books. And while she is doing it she will ask daddy to get another book if she has finished the one she is reading.

Sometime after she wakes up from her afternoon nap, we will find her diapers all dry, and she will do her small one in tam pui when we asked her to. We hope she will be diapers free soon. Diapers are not cheap anyway, costing ~rm1 each, mamy poko XL

Christine Ong's Baptism..... Finally

On 9th of December 2007, after much delay, we have finally got Ee Shuen baptist, she is now officially a Christian, Christine Ong Ee Shuen.

It was a long road to baptism, first of all we had to find a date where everyone is free. Mommy and daddy is always busy, there is always something coming up on the baptism saturday, then we have find a date where po po and e e from ipoh could come and witness Ee Shuen's baptism and finally of course we have a hard time looking for a Christian name for ee shuen, even with baby z's daddy Christian name book, we just could find one that we like. After much time spent thinking and looking we finally settle down with Christine, and we like the meaning of the name as well, Christ's follower :).

After days, weeks and months of looking for a suitable day, we finally found a date where everyone could make it, that is Dec 9th at Church of the Holy Name of Jesus at balik pulau.

Father Henry praying over Christine, looks like Christine is more interested is in the book Father Henry is holding. Christine's God Mother on the left....

Christine Ong.... I baptist you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Everyone in white.......

Family photo after the ceremony ended, looks like the children found something interesting on the right.....

Sometimes we bring Ee Shuen out for a walk. Things that caught her attention are as shown as above. Firstly, she'll want to have a look at the butterfly in front of our house. Then, she'll asked us to walk to our neighbour's house. There are purple and yellow flowers there. Then, she'll want to further walk up to the staircase to another neighbour's house, she likes to see the bird over there. After that, only she'll be satisfied to walk back home.

What Ee Shuen did in Ipoh

When she listens to karaoke ( Gong gong & Po po's favourite - of course children songs for her ), she claps her hand continuously.

She brought her toys back to Ipoh... ( Papa & Mama afraid that she's bored in Ipoh, haha! )

She sits on the small size rottan chair, which belongs to Mummy and Yi Yi last time. Think it's more than 15 yeards old!

Daddy carry her like this in the restaurant. Most of the time, her face looks worried because of the height. But this time she was alright, because Daddy took her to see fishes in the restaurant!

p/s : Ee Shuen is 9 months 1 week now.

Back from KL

Mummy went to KL for 3-days meeting, and noticed a few changes on Ee Shuen when back yesterday.
She sit quietly and listen to mummy telling her stories now, compared to last time she will try to grab the book and bite it.
She did't simply cry, I think she's not feeling well last week, that's why she keep on making noise.
She will play with all the toys, and can stay in her play area for up to one hour or more.
She didn't sleep yesterday night till Mummy back from KL. She smile when she saw Mummy. I can feel it from the bottom of my heart that her smile is so happy that she saw Mummy is back from KL already!

Penang International Lantern Festival

On the way back from Cameron Highlands last 3 weeks, we went to Auto City for our dinner. Along the way when we drove into Auto City, we saw a lot of lanterns along thr main road. After our dinner, we walk towards the entrance for Penang International Lantern Festival.

Fever, cough & running nose

Ee Sheun went for her 2nd pneumococcal injection last Monday, 24th September 2007. Although we were told by our paediatrician that there might be a risk for getting fever within 24 hours, we were quite lucky that she's alright on the first night.

On Thursday, she started to have mild fever.

On Friday & Saturday night, she started to wake up many times at night. Still have fever. we try to give her paracetamol that we get from doctor beginning of this month, where she had mild fever when mummy was away to KL.

On Saturday night, she starts to cough. Cough but not much phlegm.

Poor little Ee Shuen waiting to see doctor, 8 more patients to go!

On Sunday morning, we brought her to see doctor because she still having fever. Had been given neurofen & medicing for cough, to be taken symptomatically. On that night, she didn't sleep well, I think it's because she has running nose also now.

On Monday afternoon, she vomitted. Oh dear! what happened to her?! She has bad running nose & vomit twice during midnight again. Cough with phlegm. Pity little Ee Shuen!

We took leave on Tuesday to take care of her. We took her to see a paediatrician. She prescirbed her paracetamol, rhinathiol, Illadin ( nasal drop ) and ZITHROMAX ( antibiotic, for 3 days ). Daddy always resist to start on antibiotic to baby. We get a 2nd opinion. Doctor explained to us that if it's a viral infection, it will go off very fast, normally 3 to 5 days. But if it's caused by bacteria, the symptom like fever will continue after even one week, then only consider of starting on antibiotic. This is because Ee Sheun still using her own antibody to fight back. With that, it can build up her immune system also.

Wednesday, Mummy took leave to take care of her. Still had mild feveer in the morning. Coughing and running nose. Night time, fever again, about 38.5 celsius. Mummy's colleague was wondering why Ee Sheun will get sick although Mummy breastfed her last time. Mummy & Daddy would like to wait for one more day before start her on antibiotic. Give Ee Shuen a chance!

Thursday, 4th October, no fever for the whole day. And now she can screamed, paly and crawl around the house. Yippy! Ee Shuen won the battle! However, still a bit if running nose & cough.

I think we'll change the paediatrician that we're seeing now, we had concluded that she had been giving too 'potent' medication to Ee Shuen!

Cameron Highlands ( Day 2 )

Ee Shuen woke up at about 7am the next morning. Everybody woke up by her "alarm". Since outside is still cold, she wore a knitted sweater when she was in the balcony ( Mummy used to wear this last time ).

After our breakfast, we decided to visit Sg Palas Plantation. As mummy can remembered, the last trip that i went to tea plantation is during my primary school days. The plantation is accessible from a small road turn a few kilometres north of Brinchang town. The road leading to the plantation village and Boh Tea Centre is indeed very narrow and winded that you will need to generously use your car honking signal to indicate that your vehicle is approaching. If that is not enough, there are portions of the road that can only fit one car at one time, so if your timing is not right, either one of you will need to reverse your car to let the others pass through.

We saw beautiful lanscape where tea trees are grown in the hills in rows.

It was really relaxing when we sit down at the Tea Shop sipping tea, while enjoying the beautiful scenary in a cooling environment. However, our baby Ee Shuen take her nap again when we reached the plantation. She woke up when we arrived the Tea Shop. Managed to snap some photos with her!

We took a family photo in front of the resort before we left. Hope we'll have more family trips to come! Yippy!!
